Holding a Thematic Event at TICAD9 “The Key to Success for Business in Africa ~Business Support Presented by NEXI and Financial Institutions~”

Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI, Chairman and CEO: Atsuo Kuroda) organized a thematic event titled “The Key to Success for Business in Africa ~Business Support Presented by NEXI and Financial Institutions”1 on August 20th at PACIFICO Yokohama. The event was co-hosted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and coincided with the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), which took place in Yokohama from August 20th to 22nd.

This event was held under the theme "Supporting Japanese Companies' Business Expansion in Africa through Collaboration between NEXI and Overseas Financial Institutions (MDBs, DFIs and ECAs)." It aimed to support those planning to engage in export transactions or business development in Africa. Guest speakers from international financial institutions related to Africa, overseas ECAs, and Japanese companies were invited to the stage to share their insights. They presented real-world examples of how NEXI and they have collaborated to support Japanese business in Africa, how Japanese companies could receive support from each institution and potential new risk hedging solutions provided through the collaboration between NEXI and them.

The event also featured opening remarks by Mr. Yuichiro Koga, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, who emphasized the importance of collaboration between NEXI and international development financial institutions and ECAs in reducing risks for Japanese companies doing business in Africa.

NEXI, as a governmental financial institution of Japan, will continue to actively support projects that contribute to strengthening bilateral and multilateral economic partnerships by deepening collaboration with international financial institutions and government-affiliated financial agencies of other countries.
