NEXI signs the MOUs with PT Pertamina and PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk

Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI, Chairman and CEO: Atsuo Kuroda) has signed an Amendment of the Memorandum of Understanding (Amendment MOU) Concerning Cooperation with PT Pertamina (Pertamina), the state-owned energy company of the Republic of Indonesia and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGE), a major geothermal power energy company under Pertamina.
These signing ceremonies were held at Pertamina’s headquarter in Jakarta on August 20th between Ms. Emma Sri Martini, CFO of Pertamina, Mr. Hadi, President Director of PGE, and Kazuki Hondo, Senior Managing Executive Officer, Member of Board of NEXI. The signed MOUs were presented at the occasion of the Asia Zero Emissions Community (AZEC) Ministerial Meeting held on August 21st.
NEXI signed the Memorandum of Understanding Concerning Cooperation with Pertamina on December 15th, 20231, which was presented at the occasion of “the ASEAN-Japan Economic Co-creation Forum” held on December 16th, 2023. The Amendment MOU aims to promote cooperation between the two institutions in energy infrastructure projects and decarbonization in Indonesia, as well as to accelerate the discussion about NEXI’s loan insurance coverage for Pertamina and its affiliated companies. In addition, the MOU between PGE and NEXI is intended to promote cooperation in the field of geothermal power in Indonesia and consider NEXI’s loan insurance to PGE’s projects. The two MOUs align with the objectives of Asia Zero Emissions Community (AZEC) concept advocated by the Japanese government and are expected to promote decarbonization in Indonesia and to create business opportunities for Japanese companies in this field.
