NEXI Workshop for ECA Ukraine

Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI; Chairman and CEO: Atsuo Kuroda) held a workshop for ECA Ukraine on November 15th and 16th.

This workshop was held with the aim of supporting the reconstruction of Ukraine through NEXI's technical cooperation and knowledge sharing on trade insurance, especially on investment insurance operations for ECA Ukraine.

In this workshop, Mr. Ruslan Hashev, Chairman of the Management of Board and Ms. Oksana Ocheretiana, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board participated in this workshop in person, and Advantage Ukraine (Ukrainian organization for promoting investment in Ukraine) also participated online. On 16th, ECA Ukraine gave a presentation "Investment climate in Ukraine, ECA Ukraine initiatives" to about 30 Japanese companies at the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren). It is expected that the public and private sectors will work together to support reconstruction in Ukraine.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, NEXI has maintained “open” for underwriting Ukrainian business and continues to underwrite export and investment insurance. In February 2022, we set up a support desk to assist Japanese companies in Ukraine-related business by responding to inquiries and consultations from customers regarding insurance contracts and insurance events and by promptly paying claims in accordance with the claims payment procedures.

With respect to the international cooperation, in January 2023, NEXI issued a joint statement expressing support for Ukraine¹ as an export credit agency of G7 nations, confirming their continued support for Ukraine's reconstruction, solidarity with Ukraine, and continued support for business in Ukraine. In May, we signed an MOU with KUKE², a Polish ECA, to promote business between Japanese and Polish companies in third countries including Ukraine, and we held discussions on various issues including support for Ukraine's reconstruction at the G7 ECA Head meeting³.

NEXI will continue to strengthen its cooperation and relationship with ECA Ukraine and contribute to the reconstruction in Ukraine.
