Nippon Export and Investment Insurance
Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI, Chairman and CEO: Atsuo Kuroda) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Energy (MOE) of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Atsuo Kuroda, Chairman and CEO of NEXI, and Mirzamakhmudov Jurabek Tursunpulatovich, Minister of Energy, have signed the MOU in conjunction with the “Central Asia + Japan” Business Forum held on December 20, 2025.
In Uzbekistan, to address the increasing demand for electricity due to its rapid growth of economy and population, many infrastructure development projects are planned especially in the power sector. Also, the Government of Uzbekistan has set ambitious targets to achieve long-term carbon neutrality, including the development of 25 GW of solar and wind capacity by 2030. To accomplish these goals, the Government of Uzbekistan is actively implementing a wide range of initiatives.
The MOU aims to build a framework for direct dialogue between NEXI and MOE, to strengthen cooperation in Uzbekistan’s power sector, and to promote the efforts in achieving decarbonization and energy transition in Uzbekistan. Moreover, based on the MOU, it is expected to create Japanese business opportunities in Uzbekistan through introducing Japanese companies’ technologies and discussing potential projects in which Japanese companies can participate.
NEXI continues to actively support Japanese companies to expand their global business by reinforcing cooperation with other government entities.
