Amendment of the MOC with ABGF, the Brazilian Agency for Guarantee Fund Management and Guarantees

Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI, Chairman and CEO: Atsuo Kuroda) has signed an amended Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with the Brazilian Agency for Guarantee Fund Management and Guarantees (ABGF, CEO: Maíra Madrid Barbosa da Silva).
The MOC was announced at the Japan-Brazil Economic Forum held in Tokyo, on March 26th, 2025, by Ms. Maíra Madrid Barbosa da Silva, CEO of ABGF, and Mr. Atsuo Kuroda, Chairman and CEO of NEXI in the presence of H.E. Mr. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, and H.E. Mr. Shigeru Ishiba, Prime Minister of Japan.
ABGF and NEXI concluded the MOU in 2017, aiming to build a cooperative relationship and has developed it through human resource exchanging programs. This amendment is intended to further strengthen the cooperation between both institutions, through collaboration and exchange of information including but not limited to the following areas, such as promotion of decarbonization in the supply chains of natural resources and energies, technologies for energy transition, clean energies, renewable energies, grid, hydrogen /ammonia, etc., and agribusiness.
As Brazil’s official export credit guarantee agency, ABGF is pleased to strengthen the Brazil-Japan relationship and is committed to fostering initiatives that position Brazil as a global hub for renewable energy and leverage the country's highly advanced agricultural technology. ABGF intends to incentivize investments and enhance the export capacity of Brazilian companies, including through strategic partnerships, thereby reinforcing Brazil’s role in global trade.
As a policy-based financial institution in Japan, NEXI will contribute to the further development of the Japan-Brazil relationship and continue to actively support projects that contribute to securing stable supply of natural resources and energy, initiatives by Japanese companies to achieve carbon neutrality and projects related to food security for Japan.
