Amendment of MOU between NEXI and IFC

 Nippon Export Investment Insurance (NEXI; Chairman and CEO: Atsuo Kuroda) has concluded an amended Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the International Finance Corporation (IFC; CEO: Makhtar Diop), which was originally signed in September 20201.

 IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, promotes sustainable private sector investment in developing countries. In September 2020, NEXI and IFC signed the MOU which enables cooperation between the two parties in promoting projects in which IFC participates, and supporting Japanese companies’overseas business. NEXI has supported such projects by providing insurance for project-related Japanese bank loans. Under the amended MOU, the two parties seek to strengthen further cooperation including information sharing related to potential projects in Ukraine.

 Even after the Russian invasion to Ukraine in February 2022, NEXI has maintained its underwriting policy open for Ukrainian businesses and continues to support export to and investment in Ukraine through setting Credit Lines2.

 NEXI will continue to strengthen its relationship with ECAs and international organizations including the World Bank Group, such as IFC, with the aim of supporting the reconstruction of Ukraine and solving global issues.
