United Kingdom／Signing MOU with UK Export Finance

Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI) has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation with UK Export Finance (UKEF).

The signing ceremony took place on September 6th at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (London) between Julia Beck, Chief Strategy and Impact Officer, Member of Executive Committee of UKEF, and Kazuki Hondo, Managing Executive Officer, Member of Board of NEXI in the presence of Rt. Hon. Kemi Badenoch, Secretary of State for the Department for Business and Trade, and Yasutoshi Nishimura, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.

The Leaders of the Group of 7(G7) stressed the importance of narrowing the infrastructure investment gap in low and middle income partner countries, and reaffirmed the shared commitment to the G7 Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII) at the annual summit in Hiroshima on May 2023.

This MOU is signed to achieve goals based on such commitment, such as enhancing support to co-investment projects and export projects involving companies from both UK and Japan. UKEF and NEXI have been cooperating mostly on aircraft finance reinsurance since signing One-Stop-Shop Reinsurance Agreement in 2017. Signing this MOU will further strengthen the cooperative relationship and broaden the areas of future cooperation.

Furthermore, UKEF and NEXI both agreed to continue the close communication and coordination regarding the Ukraine reconstruction process.

NEXI will continue actively to support Japanese companies’ overseas business activities through close cooperation with foreign ECAs.
