May 26, 2022

Nippon Export and Investment Insurance

Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI: Chairman and CEO: Atsuo Kuroda) has concluded a One-Stop-Shop Reinsurance Agreement with EKN (Swedish Export Credit Agency).

The signing ceremony took place on May 26th at NEXI (Tokyo, Japan) between Anna-Karin Jatko, Director General of EKN and Atsuo Kuroda, Chairman and CEO of NEXI.

The agreement’s main emphasis is on reciprocal reinsurance for medium and long-term projects. The reinsurance framework enables NEXI and EKN to collaborate in providing more comprehensive support to Japanese and Swedish companies. While this agreement can be applied to all ECA financing that involve NEXI or EKN, its applicability will be determined separately for each transaction.

The Kingdom of Sweden (Sweden) is home to many companies with advanced technologies and EKN supports Swedish companies` overseas businesses and exports. Where NEXI and EKN have collaborated in the past, NEXI wishes to strengthen its partnership with EKN through the reinsurance agreement and together actively support projects that contribute to solving social challenges including decarbonization. NEXI also wishes to contribute to the industrial cooperation between Japan and Sweden through its insurance products.

As Japan’s governmental financial institution, NEXI will continue to expand its reinsurance network with other organizations to actively support projects by Japanese companies.
