At the seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 7) hosted in August 2019, NEXI signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with ATI, to promote trade and investment in Africa by Japanese companiesi. Since then, we have been working together to establish a cooperation framework, aiming to facilitate the setting up of projects in Africa.

In February 2020, NEXI held a program for African financial institutions. Two of ATI employees attended this program and have been assigned to the Japan Desk at the ATI head office.

While business in Africa has a great potential for Japanese companies with the strong demand for infrastructure development in the region, its relatively higher risk compared to Asian market has been a concern for Japanese firms. In order to improve this situation, NEXI has been working closely with ATI, a leading institution for risk mitigation in Africa, to develop an environment that will encourage Japanese companies to make trade and investments to Africa.

NEXI will continue to actively support business expansion overseas for Japanese companies by promoting closer ties with international financial institutions.
