MOU signed between NEXI and Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia

Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI, Chairman and CEO: Kazuhiko Bando) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

The signing ceremony was held in the Japan-Georgia Business Forum on March 15 during the visit to Japan of Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze and the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia George Kobulia, attended by Prime Minister Bakhtadze; Japan’s Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Masaaki Ishikawa; and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia Tadaharu Uehara.

The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia is a governmental organization with the mission of contributing to the development of domestic economy in such sectors as trade, investment, energy, transportation and logistics, through implementing effective economic policies. This MOU aims to increase bilateral exports and support Japanese and Georgian companies to enter their partner country’s market.

NEXI has been supporting Japan’s export to Georgia by providing export insurance to domestic companies. Meanwhile, the Japanese government has also provided assistance to Georgia through yen loans and grant aids, in developing a wide-range of fields including educational and medical institutions and infrastructures such as expressways.

Following the conclusion of this MOU, NEXI will develop the bilateral business environment to stimulate economic and business activities on a private sector basis.

NEXI will continue to actively support overseas business operations of Japanese companies by strengthening ties with governmental organizations of other countries and regions.

Main items of the MOU

a) Exchange of information on topics such as politics, economics and markets of Japan, Georgia and their neighboring countries

b) Training of staff from NEXI and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia

c) Exchange of views on trade insurance business
