NEXI signs MOU on Cooperation with SINOSURE

Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI: Chairman and CEO: Kazuhiko Bando) has concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (hereinafter “MOU”) with Export Credit Insurance Corporation (“SINOSURE”), the officially export credit agency (“ECA”) in the People's Republic of China (“China”), concerning economic cooperation for promoting bilateral trade and investment between China and Japan and encouraging joint projects in third countries.

The MOU was concluded taking the opportunity of the First China-Japan Third-Party Market Cooperation Working Forum held on October 26th. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between Japan and China.

Also, this MOU aims to establish frameworks to promote trade and investment between the two countries, and to effectively support specific joint projects by enterprises from both sides, which will contribute to infrastructure improvement in targetthird countries.

Global demand for infrastructure development has been high, mainly in emerging countries. It is expected to see further opportunities to cultivate cooperation projects by Japanese and Chinese companies in third countries. Under such context, it is expected to carry out more infrastructure development programs that would be greatly beneficial for Japan, China and thirdtarget countries. NEXI and SINOSURE will work together to successfully carry out such projects, on the premise of openness, transparency, economic efficiency and target countries’ fiscal health of third countries.

Also, the two institutions reached a consensus on holding annual bilateral meetings to jointly promote the third party market cooperation. The first bilateral meetingsession will take place at the end of November 2018, in Tokyo.

NEXI will continue to actively support Japanese companies’ overseas business development and their collaborations with Chinese companies in third countries, by deepening its relationship with government-affiliated financial institutions of other countries and regions.
