Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI; Chairman and CEO: Kazuhiko Bando) signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation (MOU) with the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC; President and CEO Mr. Ray W. Washburne), the U.S. Government’s development finance institution.

The MOU was signed by OPIC President and CEO Mr. Ray W. Washburne and NEXI Chairman and CEO Kazuhiko Bando on November 7, 2017 at U.S. Embassy Tokyo.

The MOU develops a framework for cooperation between the two agencies in fields of investment and finance to conduct effective and productive support for Japanese and U.S. companies which aim to implement projects in emerging markets.

Cooperation under the MOU

  • 1. Mutual cooperation in supporting emerging market projects that meet the two agencies’ statutory and policy objectives.
  • 2. Joint marketing and business development efforts toward Japanese and American business sectors
  • 3. Exchange Information for the purpose of market developments and possible collaboration by the two agencies

NEXI will continue to support Japanese companies’ overseas business through cooperation with other governmental financial institutions.
