March 30, 2017

Nippon Export and Investment Insurance

Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI) has decided to provide insurance for a loan of USD 135 million extended by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation for rehabilitation of polypropylene and other petrochemical plants operated in the U.S. by Braskem S.A., the largest petrochemical producer in the Americas.

Braskem has rehabilitated its plants in Pennsylvania, Texas and West Virginia. The polypropylene produced in the plants is supplied to manufacturers including Japanese chemical makers operating in the U.S. who are producing car parts materials for Japanese car companies operating in North America. In this sense, Braskem’s rehabilitation project will help ensure more sustainable and efficient value chain for Japanese companies in North America.

NEXI will continue to actively support projects that will lead to the expansion of overseas business by Japanese companies.
