Uzbekistan / Loan Insurance for Digital Terrestrial TV Network Development Project

Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI) has decided to provide insurance for a loan extended by a Japanese commercial bank to finance the project on the development of a digital terrestrial TV network implemented by the State Committee for Communications, Information and Telecommunications Technologies of Uzbekistan.
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation ("SMBC") and Japan Bank for International Cooperation extend loans to National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of the Republic of Uzbekistan to finance Uzimpexaloka LLC's purchase of digital television transmitters from OGAWA SEIKI CO., LTD. NEXI's Insurance will cover the loan provided by SMBC. This is the first time in 14 years that NEXI provides insurance for a medium to long term project in Uzbekistan.
In this project, digital television transmitters manufactured by NEC Corporation which has long contributed to the development of the information and communications industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan are exported to the country to help implement the project on the development of a nation-wide digital terrestrial TV network, and in this respect, NEXI's insurance will contribute to the further expansion of Japanese companies' overseas business.
As a Japanese official export credit agency, NEXI will continue to actively support Japanese companies' exports.
