October 27, 2014

Nippon Export and Investment Insurance

Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI) has decided to provide insurance for loans provided by Japanese banks for a new gas-to-gasoline plant construction project implemented by Turkmengaz, a state-owned gas company in Turkmenistan.

Turkumengaz will purchase the plant equipment for this project from foreign manufacturers including Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd of Japan. Japanese banks (Mizuho Bank, Ltd. as the Agent Bank, The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd. , Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and Deutsche Bank AG, Tokyo Branch) will finance the purchase through co-financing with Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC). NEXI will support the financing by the Japanese commercial banks.

While most of the gasoline produced at the plant will be sold in the domestic market, the project is also planning to export the product to neighboring countries. This is a significant project for Turkmenistan under which the country is promoting the efficient utilization of its natural gas resources.

As a Japanese export agency, NEXI will continue to support projects promoting Japanese exports.
